St Augustine’s is a successful, innovative Catholic Christian community dedicated to achieving excellence for all through our culture of high expectations and traditional values. We are passionate about supporting every child to achieve their full academic potential whilst developing our students into responsible, mature and confident young people.
As a Catholic school our core aims are to nourish an ethos based on Gospel values of love, wisdom, integrity, justice and compassion and to develop a community that is welcoming, caring and inclusive. These ideas were encapsulated by Pope Francis I when he said:
Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!
In essence, St Augustine’s will endeavour to:
provide high quality, aspirational teaching and learning in a creative, safe and secure environment;
promote respect, equality, and diversity recognising that we are all unique and valued by God;
prepare students for life in 21st Century Britain by developing a spirit of lively enquiry and acceptance to make sense of an ever-changing world;
promote British Values by preparing students socially, morally, spiritually and culturally to be valued members of society;
provide an environment in which all students can grow and achieve their full potential through engaging in new experiences, seizing opportunities to learn both inside and outside of the classroom, taking risks in their learning, learning from mistakes and building resilience in an atmosphere of support and challenge;
empower our young people to take ownership of their own learning through collaboration, building confidence, motivation and ambition to be their very best whilst also respecting and considering their mental health and well-being;
create a partnership between home, school, parish and local community developing well-mannered, courteous and polite young people who smile, hope, dream, are happy and develop a life-long love of learning.
As a school, ‘…we form the roots from which we grow our values, motivation, aspirations and the moral imperatives that inform our choices and actions and persons.’ (Gravissimum Education)
