‘Where words fail music speaks’  Hans Christian Andersen

Our vision is to facilitate a music education which engages, motivates and provides enjoyment to all students across key stage 3 and 4. We aim to provide a safe, caring and enthusiastic environment where students can draw together their intellect and feelings to enable personal expression and emotional growth. We actively promote student aspiration in the challenge embedded throughout the schemes of work and in the extra-curricular opportunities we provide.

Through the study of music students will be given the opportunity to perform, compose and appraise in many different styles to help them grow in confidence and self- esteem, developing skills they can transfer across the curriculum.

Music is taught throughout Year 7 and Year 8 in a 1 hour lesson per week. It provides a foundation for Year 9 students to then opt to follow the GCSE course.
