Welcome to Humanities
At St Augustine’s, the Humanities department is committed to ensuring that all students make excellent progress in History and Geography through experiencing excellent teaching which engages and motivates them to work hard and succeed. Humanities is at the forefront of an ever changing world and we believe we have a huge responsibility in preparing young people for life after school.
Key Stage 3: Years 7 & 8
In years 7 and 8 all students have six hours of timetabled lessons over two weeks of history and geography. In year 8 students can opt to choose History and/or Geography at GCSE level, starting in Year 9.
Key Stage 4: Years 9, 10 & 11
At KS4 students can study history and or geography at GCSE. Geography at GCSE follows the AQA syllabus and history follows the Edexcel syllabus.
